The house is a ‘Neil Architecture’ designed contemporary home. We engaged MCL constructions direct under the HIA (Housing Industry Association Ltd) contract. Campbell expedited the contract with utmost efficiency completing the project within 8 months and in accordance with the agreed programme. Given the property was architecturally designed; it required a high degree of attention to detail and finishing expertise. Campbell administered the contract very professionally and his communication, both from a written and oral perspective was excellent. Campbell has a strong relationship with an excellent pool of suppliers and Sub-contractor trades which proved critical for ensuring both timeliness and quality. Their on site team were very helpful and respectful. All in all, our contract with Campbell and MCL Constructions was very satisfying and I would have no hesitation in recommending his company for future projects. Client: Justin & Elisa MCL Constructions recently completed a major renovation for us which involved rebuilding and extending the back half of our house, as well as refurbishing and improving the front half of the house. The project was completed ahead of time. Campbell McLennan and his team employed great communication, great attention to detail, fine workmanship and a very high level of competence in all aspects of the work. The site was always well-organised and was left in a very good, clean state at completion. There was a genuine commitment to excellence throughout the renovation. We knew what we wanted when we commenced the design phase of our architecturally designed workshop. Campbell worked closely with us and our Architect to understand the concept, and then worked to source materials including negotiating with timber suppliers to locate the various timbers and reclaimed materials specified, including large freshly milled 7 metre Ironbark beams! Throughout the construction Campbell and his team hand cut and assembled each section with all the care and interest as if they had been building their own workshop! Many who have visited are impressed by the meticulous workmanship and attention to the fine detail of the design. We were impressed by the conscientiousness of those who worked on the job including MCL employees and the sub-contractors they engaged. Everyone was easy to work with, professional and accommodating while working on site. As there was often children around during the process we always felt very comfortable that the site was left safe and the kids enjoyed the team's friendly working environment. We felt Campbell kept us informed of when things would be done, and if there were delays, we knew why. As we were specifying period hardware, if it was easier (or cheaper) to source it ourselves, we were able to discuss and agree on the best option and take it from there. Client: Ross & Cath My wife and I have on two occasions employed MCL Constructions. The first occasion to complete a large two storied renovation of a Victorian cottage in the heritage listed Sumner Estate in Northcote. The second was to construct a substantial upper level deck to a property in Balwyn. At all times I found Campbell and his employees easy to communicate with. They were able to clearly explain the building processes and were open to new ideas. Campbell is a creative thinker, willing to consider the many options faced during a building project and happy to consult us about these. We felt fully informed about decisions that were made at all levels that included; architects, engineers and the subcontractors he used. MCL Constructions provided detailed competitive quotes and were accurate with the documentation of variations that occurred during the projects. This meant no surprises when additional costs were incurred. MCL employees and subcontractors were hardworking, honest tradesmen. Their behaviour was professional at all times, an important issue for us, as our renovation happened while we stayed in our home with our 4 young children. They started promptly, worked regular hours and negotiated extra time when necessary to keep the project on target. Their work and the material used was very high quality. The finished product showed an eye for detail which made painting and fitting out straight forward for others. MCL Constructions adhered to all safety requirements. Both sites were clean and well organised. Work stations, benches and tools were set up to minimise disruption to us and maximise efficiency for the work being carried out. We intend to use MCL Constructions in the future and have no hesitation in recommending their building and construction services to others. We are open to approaches through them to view their work at our property.
