Campbell McLennan - Managing Director

Member of the HIA and Master Builders, accredited Builder with Building Ethics Australia (BEA), and a HIA Greensmart Professional.

I am passionate about creating homes that not only look and function beautifully but also stand the test of time. My goal is to ensure that every homeowner enjoys a smooth, stress-free building process, with clear communication, high-quality craftsmanship, and confidence in the durability of their home.

With a strong reputation for integrity and attention to detail, I have built lasting relationships with award-winning architects, owner-builders, and clients who trust MCL Constructions to bring their vision to life. I take pride in my ability to listen carefully, provide expert guidance, and transform ideas into homes that people truly love.

My journey in construction began in the Wimmera region of country Victoria, where I grew up working alongside my father—learning to weld, design, and build from an early age. This hands-on experience led me to design and construct farm implements, extensions, renovations, sheds, and furniture before officially beginning my carpentry apprenticeship in Stawell (1989–1992).

During my apprenticeship, I immersed myself in every aspect of construction—excavation, concreting, carpentry, steelwork, welding, cabinet making, tiling, and painting. In 1993, I worked as a subcontract carpenter on new homes, extensions, and renovations, earning First Place in the Ballarat Regional Workskill Competition and a high ranking in the Australian National Workskill Competition.

After moving to Melbourne in 1994, I gained experience working with major metropolitan builders before establishing MCL Constructions in 1996. My vision for MCL has always been clear: to give homeowners peace of mind throughout their build by ensuring a well-managed, transparent process, selecting the right materials and methods for long-term durability, and delivering a home that exceeds expectations in both quality and livability.

Beyond construction, I have a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, which extends to my passion for woodturning. When I’m not working, I enjoy staying active through athletics and triathlons, pushing myself to new challenges and maintaining a strong sense of discipline and perseverance—values that I bring into my work as well.

Laura McLennan - Administration and Accounts Manager

I love being part of a thriving business that is highly regarded by both clients and industry professionals. At MCL Constructions, I manage the administrative and financial side of the business, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Before stepping into this role, I worked as a Division 2 Nurse, gaining extensive experience in team management and people skills. Over the years, I have held various leadership positions, from Head Nurse in the USA’s Camp America programs to Head Receptionist and Dressing Nurse at a busy medical clinic.

Beyond my work at MCL, I have a passion for helping others feel their best. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I studied to become a beautician and now run a home salon, which was proudly designed and built by MCL Constructions. I am also an accredited running coach and volunteer weekly at the track, coaching athletes of all ages. Balancing my time between work, family life, and my personal interests keeps me busy, but I love the variety and the opportunity to make a positive impact in different ways.
